Community
As 2024 came to a close, the Capital Markets Go-to-Market teams at FIS® sought opportunities to give back and invest in their communities by volunteering with charitable organizations. While FIS’ focus spans the globe, these events provided an invaluable chance for employees to connect with and support their local communities. Here are some of the highlights:
Wisconsin, U.S. – Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission
Colleagues located in Milwaukee volunteered with the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC), an organization that takes in lost and unwanted animals, strays, surrenders and pets from owners facing emergencies. They care for a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, lizards and more.
The team tackled projects MADACC had been lacking time for due to their increased workload over the last few years. The team folded blankets, relabeled cat cages, filled adoption folders, assembled fans and moved heavy pallets of litter and barrels of cleaning solution.
New Jersey, U.S. – Homeless Solutions
Colleagues from the New York City office prepared and served lunch to Homeless Solutions shelter residents in New Jersey. As they cooked, they learned about the shelter's impact in serving Morristown since their founding in 1983. The team shared warm conversation with diners while serving, and after lunch had finished, they helped to reset the kitchen as the next team of volunteers arrived to prepare for a busy dinner service.
Florida, U.S. – K9s for Warriors
Members of the Jacksonville office visited the K9s for Warriors campus to participate in the annual tree decorating contest. It was a wonderful team-building experience, in addition to donating all dog treats and toys used for decoration to the organization. After a concerted effort to get out the online vote, FIS brought home second place, narrowly missing out on the grand prize of naming rights to a future service dog.
Ohio, U.S. – Mid-Ohio Foodbank
A crew of generous volunteers in Ohio processed and packaged 3,200 pounds of food and goods for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, one of the largest produce-distributing food banks in the U.S. Through their network of more than 600 local food pantries, soup kitchens, children and senior feeding sites, and after-school programs, the food bank serves more than half a million people every year.
Bengaluru, India – Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled
Members of the Bengaluru team hosted an enriching event with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled in which they conducted short sessions on career counseling, vocational training, job interview skills and more. Following the sessions, the volunteers and participants got creative with arts and crafts.
Pune, India – Seva Sahayog Foundation
Colleagues from the Pune office sponsored school children to come to the FIS office to showcase their talents and present various science projects. The team coordinated the event with the Seva Sahayog Foundation's Knowledge on Wheels initiative, providing access to science education to students who may not have access to science laboratories or equipment. The team assisted students in explaining their projects to the FIS audience, making it a memorable and educational experience for everyone involved.
Communities – along with colleagues and clients – make up the 3Cs that guide FIS’ values. FIS is committed to making a difference in the communities where employees live and work. To learn more about FIS, visit FISglobal.com.
